“Agarré una canción que me gusta mucho, que es “Love…Thy Will Be Done” de Martika, compuesta por Prince, la dí vuelta, la corté en muchos segmentos, y volví a pegar los segmentos en otro orden, tratando de formar unidades musicales. Le agregué segmentos igualmente dados vuelta de otra canción que me gusta mucho: “We’ll Live It All Again” de Al Bano y Romina Power y compuesta por Detto Mariano.
A esto agregué un fragmento de canción que había compuesto con la guitarra, buscando sumar mas momentos musicales diferentes, como alternativa al clásico verso-estribillo-puente de la música pop.
Esa es la base sobre la que se construyó “Anymore”. La melodía fue dictada por las voces al revés de éstas canciones.
La letra es producto de otro experimento. Escribí lo primero que me venía a la mente, sin cuestionarlo ni embellecerlo, ni redireccionarlo. No busqué un sentido, pero al oír la canción ahora, me doy cuenta que me define por completo.
Creo que “Anymore” es una especie de respuesta a “Strawberry Fields Forever” una canción muy importante para mí y con la que, de alguna manera, siempre sopesé mi trabajo,y siempre mi trabajo salió perdiendo en la comparación. Pero esta vez es como que les digo a los Beatles: “bueno, estoy listo, aquí va mi Strawberry Fields”.
Advertencia: para hacerle justicia a la canción por favor dedicarle toda la atención durante sus ocho minutos. Esta no es una canción pop de fondo para una reunión, ni para ir por el centro en hora pico, ni para escuchar mientras se escribe un mail. Es una pequeña sinfonía.
